More than 170 students and dozens of faculty from across the health sciences campus, as well as several community members convened to hear the outcomes of 33 interprofessional student team projects completed across the region.

The mission of the SLU Center for Interprofessional Education and Research is to: (1) Prepare health professions graduates of Saint Louis University and health care providers for interprofessional, patient-centered collaborative practice; (2) advance the practice of effective and efficient interprofessional team-based care to improve individual patient and population health outcomes; and (3) advance research and scholarly activity of Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice.

The Interprofessional Community Practicum Course (IPE490) was created as a culmination of previous courses to 1) integrate the theory and practice of interprofessional teamwork and 2) provide valuable services to agencies working with medically underserved populations in the community.

Interprofessional teams of students are assigned to community agencies and work with faculty and site coordinators to assess the community agency needs, implement and evaluate a project to benefit the health and wellness of a population. The poster session culminates a semester of these teams embarking on interprofessional practice to benefit their patients, their communities, and health care delivery.
