Overuse Injury in Sport: An Interprofessional Approach

The World Federation of Athletic Training and Therapy (WFATT) is extending a call for abstracts for the 2015 WFATT World Congress to be held in St. Louis, Missouri, June 20-22, 2015.

The 2015 WFATT World Congress Program Planning Committee invites submissions for presentation (oral or poster) on the topics of: 1) Overuse Injury in Sport or 2) Interprofessional Education and Practice.

All proposals must meet at least one of the overall objectives for the 2015 World Congress:

  • Identify the key features of overuse injury in sport
  • Differentiate between modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors for overuse injury
  • Develop preventative measures for overuse injury based on modifiable rick factors
  • Apply current best evidence in the examination of overuse injury
  • Formulate an intervention plan for an overuse injury case based on best-evidence and clinical experience
  • Employ best practices for pedagogies in Interprofessional Education
  • Select appropriate team members to maximize patient outcomes in Interprofessional Collaborative Practice

We welcome submissions of original research and clinical case studies. Abstract submissions may be considered in one of two peer-reviewed options:

  • Consideration for presentation and abstract publication in the Journal of Athletic Training (requires a non-refundable $25 proposal submission fee)
  • Considered for presentation only; not considered for publication (no submission fee required).

Deadline for abstract submission: January 20, 2015
Notification of submission status: February 22, 2015

Lead author/presenter must register to attend the World Congress.
