IPE 4905 Interprofessional Practicum Experience

2 Credit Hours
Prerequisites: IPE 1100, IPE 3500, IPE 4200, IPE 4900 (IPE 4900 can also be a co-requisite)
Required for Minor in Interprofessional Practice

This is a practicum course where students will be observing interprofessional teamwork and collaborative practice in two different clinical settings and completing interviews with providers, care teams, and patients/family members. Multiple settings within hospitals, health care organizations, and community settings will be utilized to enable students to gain experience assessing how different interprofessional teams function, and the environmental and personal attributes that contribute to effective teams working together to improve patient care and outcomes. Course discussions focus on the application of previous IPE course content in a clinical setting to achieve the following goals:

  1. 1. Understand the different application, but similar attributes, of effective team-based care in a clinical setting.
  2. 2. Strengthen your skills to identify, describe, and demonstrate attributes of effective team-based care in a clinical setting.
